Snuggle Mountain by Lindsey Lane

SNUGGLE MOUNTAIN

Clarion Books (2003)

Inside the snuggly cave at the very top of Snuggle Mountain is a two-headed giant that's fast asleep, caught in a sleeping spell that has made it forget all about breakfast. But Emma wants pancakes, and to get them she'll climb the shaking, quaking mountain all the way to the top — and wake the sleeping giant herself!

Journalism, Playwriting & Screenwriting

Columns & Features:

Prior to becoming a children’s book author, I was a feature writer at the Austin American Statesman and the Austin Chronicle. You may still be able to find some of those features in their archives.

I currently write a monthly column about family life in Good Life Magazine

Plays:

DewBerry Cobbler (1996) — A mid-life crisis over cobbler

Port of Last Resort (1994) — The men of a machine shop aren’t able to fix everything in their lives.

The Miracle of Washing Dishes (1991) — Epiphanies over this simple task

Washing dishes, a miracle? Though at first such a notion may seem preposterous, think about it. What common household task have all women - and woefully too few men - engaged in? And what routine is done differently by everyone who does it? Why washing dishes, of course.

‘The miracle of washing dishes is the miracle of being alive,’ said Lindsey Lane, the Austin playwright who conceived of The Miracle of Washing Dishes.

—William Peterson, Austin Statesman, June 29, 1990.

DogTails (1990) —A woman must choose between her love for dogs and humans

Tinnie (1989) — A young woman tries to figure out why she was born into her family

Movie Script:

Waking Up (1991) — A woman tries to reconcile falling in love with someone she shouldn’t.
